The fact that top international scientific magazines publish articles on these studies is testimony to the success of IFOM's novel formula, involving researchers with the already-mentioned important institutions carrying out research projects which complete each other, and disposing of particularly advanced, sophisticated technologies.

With 82 published articles (more than twice the number published in 2003, 21 of which have an impact factor greater than 10 and an average impact factor of 9.207. Out of the thousands of scientific magazines published in the world, less than one hundred have an impact factor greater than 10.
IFOM ends 2004 with a productivity balance sheet which is decidedly positive.

Amongst the many important results we wish to highlight: the discovery by Marco Foiani, Achille Pellicioli and colleagues, of the crucial role played by a "nurse protein" (the CDK protein or "Cyclin-dependent kinase") in the activation of cell control systems and in repairing damage to DNA (Ira et al., Nature, 2004, 21 October, 431(7011), 1011-7; PMID: 15496928.
